BALLET CAMP CANCELLED

Sniff. Sigh. And another sigh, of relief.

This summer was stacking up to be a challenge. My family is traveling to Taiwan this fall. So this summer not only means prepping us for the trip, AND prepping the house to be rented while we're gone, but we've also got my oldest (and biggest helper) gone for 6 weeks attending his own ballet camp, Ballet West's Summer Intensive. AND my second oldest was accepted into another Ballet West program, the Pre-Intensive, which means for 5 weeks, we're out of town for 3 days getting her to her lessons in SLC.

So it is with mixed feelings I cancel these ballet camps. Sad because they are seriously SO MUCH FUN! I love seeing the little dancers pour all their joy into being a ballerina for a few moments with me in class. I love sharing all the gorgeous music and fascinating stories of ballet. I love hunting for just the right video clips that might inspire bigger dreams in my little dancers. And I love their pride in their crafted creations.

But I'm relieved that with such a cazy schedule I don't have to outline how to teach 5 ballets, or listen to all the music to find just the right pieces for our class. I'm relieved I don't have to hunt down 5 themed crafts that can be assembled by littles as young as 3 and interesting to kids as old as 8, and finished in 15 mintues. I'll miss hunting for costumes that will light up the eyes of the dancers, but I won't miss finding more storage for my growing collection. And I'm relieved to get the time I would spend emailing parents, planning the performance program, and making sure everyone's needs are met BACK.

I need to email contacts in another country, plan a 3 month family adventure, and to ensure the needs of 6 people in a foreign land are met!

Thanks for checking in. Thanks for being interested. I hope next summer we might try again. Maybe next year the timing will work better for your family... and mine!

Love,
Steffanie
